ADHD assessment
Difficulty concentrating, inner restlessness, forgetfulness or acting rashly can have many causes. A careful assessment clarifies whether ADHD is behind it – or something else.
What is ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) shows itself in persistent difficulties with attention, in restlessness and in impulsivity. The characteristics begin in childhood and can continue into adulthood. In adults, ADHD often has a different effect than in children: instead of visible restlessness, the main issues are often an inner drivenness, problems with organisation and time management, or exhaustion.
Similar difficulties can also occur with stress, lack of sleep, depression, anxiety or other strains. That is why a thorough evaluation is important.
Who is the assessment for?
- Adults who recognise themselves in these descriptions or have long struggled with attention and organisation
- Parents who wonder whether ADHD could be behind their child's difficulties
- Adolescents who are finding school or training increasingly hard
- People who would like an earlier diagnosis to be reviewed
How does the assessment work?
- Detailed interview: We explore your current situation and your life history – including your childhood.
- Questionnaires: Standardised questionnaires for self-assessment and, where possible, for assessment by relatives, teachers or your partner.
- Tests: Standardised tests of attention, concentration and other cognitive functions.
- Differential assessment: We check whether other causes explain the difficulties better or are also present.
- Report and final consultation: You receive a written report and discuss the results and recommendations with us.
What you can bring
- School reports, especially from primary school
- Previous reports or medical letters
- For children: exercise books, observations from school or nursery
Good to know
We do not prescribe medication. However, our report can serve as a basis for further treatment, for example with a specialist in psychiatry or in child and adolescent psychiatry.
